1. How many users are there in the elementary and secondary schools?
This is a good question as this will dictate the speed of attendance being taken
Response: This is a good question as this will dictate the speed of attendance being taken
and how many people are system will need to support comfortably.
Follow-up: If a main goal is to log attendance faster, would it be better to optomize how fast the
current attendance is being logged on the internet or would it be better to upgrade the system's
internet to be able to incorporate more users?
2. When a student is MIA how many people are contacted?
To get the most information about this topic, maybe a better question would be to add
Response: To get the most information about this topic, maybe a better question would be to add
who would be contacted. This could possibly be any secondary contact information that
parents/guardians would give if they were unavailable.
Follow-up: That is very reasonable, could there be a way to link the student's medical parental/guardian and secondary
contact information with their account for missing attendance?
3. Do warning letters go out after 5 absences for each day or for each period?
To expand this we could make this question ask if parents or report cards will say
Response: To expand this we could make this question ask if parents or report cards will say
the amount of absenses per class.
Follow-up: I agree that the report cards should say the amount of absences per class, should they also
include tardies to give more information to parents in case their students do start to skip class?
4. Why do some teachers have tablets while others have desktops for logging attendance?
What impact would this information have logging attendance?
Response: What impact would this information have logging attendance?
Follow-up: This may be important because there may be a way to have the ones with desktops use
ethernet vs wireless so they do not slow down the internet.
5. How often does the district need attendance reports?
Doing research, I found that districts usually aim to get reports around every 10 days.
Response: Doing research, I found that districts usually aim to get reports around every 10 days.
This is used so that data can be recorded and observed about trends in absences. We could
also find out if the district needs any information other than absences like which
periods are being skipped.

periods are being skipped.
Follow-up: Should we also include how many times parents were called just in case a student continues
to skip class?
